The black body of the horse became the background for the drawing in the style of «mehendi», made of golden lines and turquoise dots. Mehendi is henna drawings on the body, the tradition of which goes back to India of the XII century. This technique was described in ritual Vedic books. Henna drawings symbolize the inner light of a man. They include plant and floral ornaments, bird images and solar signs. Characteristic features of the Indian style of mehendi are thin lines that look like lace.
For a long time, only rich families used the henna patterns. Later they became available to other groups of people. It is believed that mehendi brings good luck, material well-being and performs the function of protection (from the evil eye, accidents, diseases). As a rule henna drawings are made on arms, legs, shoulders and neck. The process is very slow and resembles meditation.
