A black and white horse «Africa»

The black body of this horse is decorated with fragments of various African ornaments. Black and white, as well as red, are the main colours in many African cultures. Ethnographers believe that they encode the religious and social experience of African society. At the same time these same colours are dominant in art.

African ornament is not a set of random lines and signs. It is a story about the history, beliefs and traditions of these or those peoples with the help of geometric shapes. An ornament is mainly a link between generations. If it was made in white, it told about appeal to the gods.

Europeans liked the dynamics and expressiveness of African patterns. Western designers are happy to use them to decorate living spaces, decor and clothes.
